Depression

Depression can look like sadness, but just as often it looks like numbness, flatness, or a heaviness that makes even small things feel impossible. It's often experienced as an absence of energy, motivation, meaning, or hope, but it's rarely without a history. It's not a character flaw or a lack of willpower. Often it's a signal, a way the mind protects itself from something that felt too overwhelming to feel directly, whether that's loss, disappointment, anger, internalized criticism, disconnection from your authentic self, or an old wound that never got room to be understood. This doesn't mean depression is anyone's fault. It means it makes sense within your particular history.

Rather than treating depression as something to simply manage, we look together at what it might be expressing, and what's been buried underneath the exhaustion. That kind of understanding tends to open up more lasting relief than pushing yourself to just feel better or focusing on symptom reduction alone.
