Religious
Trauma

Leaving or questioning a faith you were raised in can shake far more than your beliefs. It can touch your sense of morality, your relationships, your community, and even your basic trust in your own judgment. Religious trauma often involves a complicated mix of genuine meaning and real harm: shame-based teachings, control, exclusion, or spiritual abuse experienced within a system that may have also provided real community, structure, or comfort. Guilt, shame, and fear often linger long after you've consciously decided to think differently, because those messages were often absorbed young, before you had the ability to question them. Untangling this can be especially difficult because it often means questioning beliefs and communities that were foundational to one's early identity and worldview.

Together, we’ll approach this without judgment toward faith itself, exploring what your religious upbringing gave you as well as what it cost you, without pressure to land on any particular conclusion. The goal is for you to be able to think, feel, and believe freely, and to rebuild a relationship with belief or meaning-making that's genuinely your own.
